Registering a Domain Name and Getting Free Hosting question

I want to register a domain name for future use but in the meantime I thought I might put a webpage with just my personal logo at a free website such as Freehostia.com or 000Webhost.com. (I want to get this domain locked down since some other potential domain names have been taken.)

If I registered with GoDaddy or Namecheap.com, how hard would it be to have them point to a free page at Freehostia or 000Webhost and most importantly, once I'm ready to actually start using that domain name for real, how hard would it be to transfer it away from the free page at Freehostia or 000Webhost to another site? (I had been thinking of going with One.com.)

Changing the nameservers with your domain registrar takes a few minutes of effort from you, plus up to 24 hours for the changes to propagate through the DNS system. It is very easy.

Not all free hosts actually support the "bring your own domain" approach, so make sure yours do. I am not familiar at all with the hosts you mention.

Apparently there are a number of free web hosting sites around which seem to earn their money by hoping that the sites they are hosting need to expand and upgrade to better hosting. Here are some of the ones that looked most promising:

http://www.freehostia.om
http://www.000webhost.com
http://www.365-hosting.net
http://www.byethost.com
http://www.megabyet.com (same as the last one, not sure what the difference is)

Wow! 000webhost.com setup my account in 15sec!
This site can't last long...
