Registered RAM

Registered ram has an internal "register" that delays the Memory access by 1 CPU cycle. It is there as a sort of buffer, so the right and correct data is read/written.
 
This might be a little more appropriate in General Hardware.

To answer the question though, Registered RAM contains a register that delays data transferred to the module by one clock cycle, it's done to help ensure the reliability and accuracy of data transferred.
 
Is there a way to tell which motherboards support 'Registered' ram or is it trial and error. If I shop for ram, do ask I for 'Registered' or not??
