I need your help. I bought a registered 256MB module of DDR from crucial and it doesnt run on my MSI board. I tried all the slots, thinking this would matter, nope. At first I had a non-registered module from United Micro, although I thought I bought registered, and it works fine, without the new stick. With the registered ram, I get an error code, three beeps I think, that indiciates that something is wrong with my memory.

Can any of you help me, please? Is the memory bad, does the motherboard not accept this memory?? Anything would help.

Thanks
Kevn

Checking the page for your board on Crucial's site, it does not list any "registered" RAM. Clicking on the next page specs for the board it says "Y" under accepts registered RAM, but for the max registered RAM in the next column is says N/A. My guess is NO. Especially since it does not list any registered RAM for ordering. It also sounds like you tried to mix the two RAM together. This will not work if one is registered and one is not. I'd return the stick and get one of the ones listed if I were you. They are good about this.

Try it with just the reg. ram. It will work unless something else is wrong. I've got the same board, no probs. Ohh, and the board will accept 3gig or ram. If you can get three 1gig sticks :)

hey, pbiles..maybe you can answer my question and save me a call to MSI

How do I discern the difference between the original K7T266, and the one with the added resitor to fix the stability issues....

also, do you have more than one stick of ddr ram in it?

kyle over at hardocp had stability probs when using 2 sticks in it...

thanks,
caino

edit: pbiles..if you could enable your pm's so i could ask some questions thre, that'd be great ;o)

Ok, I tried just the registered ram and that didnt work. I will look at the crucial site in a bit but I thought you had to have registered ram to use all three slots, or did I miss something??

Thanks
