I've read a few things here and there (yeah, I know) about this or that AMD DDR motherboard only working with unbuffered DDR RAM. I'm considering buying a motherboard now and a stick of registered DDR RAM now, and that motherboard might eventually go away in favor of a dual AMD board that would want registered DDR in order to load up all the slots. So in the meantime, I'd like to get a reasonable board that will work with that DRAM.
Is this a per-chipset issue or a per-motherboard issue?
In particular, some folks have mentioned that VIA chipsets don't like registered DDR.
