NORFOLK ? The nationally syndicated ?Live with Regis and Kelly? will originate from Norfolk on Wednesday, June 22, from aboard the Pride of America, the newest and largest ship in the Norwegian Cruise Lines fleet.
Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa are scheduled to board the Pride of America on June 18 in New York City and ride it north to Boston. Then the ship heads south for stops in Philadelphia, Norfolk and Miami. The show will originate live from each location.
?Live with Regis and Kelly? is scheduled to unfold at 9 a.m. June 22 at Norfolk?s Nauticus cruise ship port before a shipboard audience. The show is seen weekdays at 9 a.m. on WVEC.
?Live? spokeswoman Barbara Warren said tickets likely will be available for residents of Hampton Roads. No details yet.
?It?s the first time we?ve done our show live from a cruise ship, and it?s probably the first program to do a full week of shows from aboard a cruise ship,? said Michael Gelman, the show?s executive producer. There are plans to do one show while the Pride of America is underway.
The visit to ports along the East Coast will be the maiden voyage for what NCL America is calling the largest passenger ship ever built for U.S. registry. It will be based in Hawaii.
Prior to the June port visits, Philbin and Ripa will launch ?Live?s Pride of America?s Crusin? Reunion? on May 16. From that date through June 16, the co-hosts will be awarding 1,000 free cruises, including a reunion package of 20 cruises for one family. Details of the contest are available online at liveregisandkelly.com.
