Region Lock

I'm confused about the different regional locking methods applied by the different gaming companies. I'm currently residing in Pakistan and most digital distributors direct us to either the EU/US site. However, I am able to from any region. (I.E I can go to D2D UK site and check out fine)

Last month I was in India. EA and THQ among a few others sell games for a lot cheaper there. So while I was there, I bought BF BC 2 from the EA's online service using a UK credit card. The purchase went fine. However, I was back in Pakistan the next day and the key wouldn't work. EA support said that the purchase was cancelled for some reason. I'm pretty sure it was because of the region lockout, but I don't know if it was because of the UK credit card or because I was playing from Pakistan. I quickly bought the Amazon version of the game which worked fine.

I also bought a physical copy of Civilization 5 which activated and worked fine on Steam. I've heard that some of Valve's games won't work like that.

I'm planning to visit India in a few weeks again and want to buy a few more games. Most are Steamworks games. Will the work or not?

The games I want to get are:

Space Marine
Deus Ex
Stronghold 3
Skyrim
