Region Free DVD -software problem

Hi I have a pansomic slot loading DVD 106s and a copy of Win DVD but the software threatens to allow me 5 choices of region then i have to stick to one. Is there a way round this or do i need new software if so any recomendations?
One question on the hardware side. In the device manager section it says the drive is region 2 but the drive is supposed to be region free have i been screwed or is this just a bit of misdiagnosis by windows?
