Reggie Bush or Mario Williams

I say Mario Williams. Sure, Bush is good, but here are a few things to consider

1) Davis is a pretty decent RB

2) Texans O-Line sucks, Bush is great, but he spent college playing behind a dominant line

3) Kubiack was the coordinator in Denver who has taken many "average" backs and turned them into great ones

4) A good defense is what wins super bowls

5) Texans D sucks - they couldnt get any pressure on QBs last year

I know that Bush will make an immediate impact, but if the Texans are in it for the long haul then Williams is a better choice. Honestly, they'd be smart to trade down and pick up a few picks. They clearly have a lot of holes. One player isnt going to fix all their problems and certainly not a RB.

if teh texans were serious about winning, they would take mario williams

however, bush would create ticket sales

i agree with EVERYTHING you said...they are all valid points. but the truth is, come draft day, bush is going #1

Bush isn't really a normal RB...he's more of a "guy you need to get the ball to as much as possible no matter how" :p

If they have a good coordinator, they will find ways to use him.

I question if Bush can take every snap in the NFL. Beyond that, he is going to get knocked around due to their pathetic O-line. I imagine that the Texans will take the short term solution to sell tickets. But they have a decent WR core, and a promising RB (who they've spent a lot of $$$ on). If Carr could get some time and they could play some D they'd be decent.

we dont' need another WR, now with andre johnson and eric moulds. bush is not going to be a wide receiver

at best, bush is going to be another cadillac williams - that's my prediction

he's definitely not going to be returning kicks like he was in college...we have jerome mathis for that

I totally agree. A dominant defensive player is more effective in the game than a top runningback, and they generally last longer as well. Take the fact that there are always runners to be had, there is more upside with Williams.

he can't...he's not an every down back, as was evidenced in the rose bowl, as opposed to lendale white

true true true...

but i guarantee...if the texans take williams at the #1 without trading down, they will get booed like crazy on draft day

Yeah, starting with the O-Line...unless they have already fixed that problem through the FA; I have not been paying attention.

Plus he can return punts and kick offs.

But I have to wonder if Vince Young isn't the guy to take. What he did in the championship game was absolutely jaw dropping. There was just no stopping him.

They don't need Reggie Bush. They need an offensive line. Bush, Davis, Carr, Young, Barry Sanders, Emmitt Smith, Joe Montana, Peyton Manning, it doesn't matter who they bring in with a ****** line they are going to get the smack laid down on them.

Vince Young isnt the answer, they have invested heavily in Carr already.

And all those things that Bush can do doesnt help if they have no D and they cant protect and open holes for their guys on offense. If Bush goes to the Texans he will have a so-so season overall. He may have some great plays for the highlights reel, but at the end of the season the Texans will have another top10 draft pick to use in 07.

I have a feeling they are going to work a draft day deal to get Williams, but they are going to select Bush at 1. I think Bush will likely be traded away to whomever drafts Mario Williams, with that team giving up an extra pick or two.

he ain't gonna return kicks...you dont' use a #1 to do that

we have jerome mathis to do taht - he led the NFL last year in return yards.

From a money standpoint, Young is the answer. And isn't that what it's really all about?
