Reg'd Fry's Combo Deals: What is Intel P4 Bare CPU ?

Wanted to know if anybody out there bought the Pentium4 combo deals at Fry's.

I want to know the difference between Bare CPU and Boxed One. I know what a boxed CPU is but not the other.

Any pointers ? And also how reliable are these Bare CPU's ? Are these returned CPU's, thus missing the box ?

They are OEM, same as retail w/o the heatsink/fan. They usually have a 1 year warranty vs 3 year for retail, depending on were you buy them.

edit; Just checked and Fry's does offer the 1 year warranty. Alot of the vendors on Pricewatch offer 10-90 day.
