Regarding Paypal: Do I need to add funds to my account before I pay someone?

The title is rather self-explanatory, but my bank account is registered and verified with Paypal. I'm not sure if I need to transfer the funds from my bank account to Paypal first, then pay someone, or if Paypal will automatically withdraw the funds for me. Thanks.

Doesn't it depend on how many transactions you've made in the past? First several I made were done with Echecks after that it's always been instant transfer from my bank account.

If you attach a bank account and have a credit card on file, you can send to anyone with an instant payment.
