Regarding oc'ing... how do you know when you must up the Vcore?

I was wondering when you're overclocking so much, how do you know until you need to up the Vcore? I've oc'ed my p4 2.0ghz to 2.3ghz without upping any Vcore, just changing the FSB ratios. I was wondering when would I need to up the Vcore? Would it be unstable? Would I begin to notice computer crashes?

Also, will too little Vcore damage your CPU? I know too much might... Thanks.

You answered your own question.

Also, while i don't believe too little vcore will damage anything, having an unstable PC would be rather damaging to any unsaved work IMO :p

Ah... right now I don't notice any crashes. I've played games for awhile and had it on for awhile, still none yet. I hope never hehe.

You can do better than hope. Run a system stressor like Prime95 for at least 6 hours (some say 12 hours, while others say nothing less than 24 hours will do, but I've found 6 hours to be a pretty good indicator) and if it errors out, then you can try upping the CPU voltage a LITTLE bit to get it stable.
