I know I said I'd stop with the AWOL stuff, but this isn't technically about that. So bite me.

In June 1977, Dubya formed his own drilling company, Arbusto Energy ("arbusto" means "bush" in Spanish), in Midland, Texas. Like his father before him, Dubya founded his oil business with the financial backing of investors, including James R. Bath, a Houston businessman whom Dubya apparently first met when they were in the same Texas Air National Guard unit. (Interestingly, both Dubya and Bath were both suspended from flying in August and September 1972, respectively, for "failure to accomplish annual medical examination.")

I'm not sure that qualifies as doubt . . . one guy said it happened the other guy said he doesn't remember it happening. Those are not mutually exclusive.

In the same way, Bush's command in AL doesn't remember him . . . doesn't mean he wasn't there. Now the fact that Bush cannot remember what he was doing and there's no proof he was on duty . . . aside from getting his teeth cleaned and collecting a paycheck neither confirms nor negates arguments on either side of the issue.

This is my favorite part of the whole pathetic military inquest. The fact that the President was taken off flying status MEANS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Do you know how many pilots are taken off flying status (ask someone in the Air Force about D.N.I.F. status) for various reasons?

I haven't seen our D.N.I.F. log or our NMR list in awhile, but there were a handful last time I did (5 or 6 out of 80-90 aircrew).

Reading the news these days proves that ignorance is contagious.

I have it on very good speculation that Bush and Bath skipped their physicals due to fears at the time the physicals would expose their apparent participation in subversive activities.

Bush was never afraid to admit that he had serious drinking problems. Showing up at a physical with ANY alcohol in his system would have been a bad thing to do.
