reg edit for cascading start menue in win98

Rain,
How do you get it to cascade in WinMe? I've been looking through everything to find an option.
Or is this like that Hybernate thing they left out on the retail versions but kept for OEM's?

Maybee my terminoligy is wrong, when I mean cascading, its to describe the start menue to expand over the desktop when the start menue has alot of entrys verus in 98 you have one long start menue and have to scroll down to see the entrys on the bottom of the start menue. Is that not a cascading start menue or is cascading something different.

Well your probably right, mis-understood ya....I was assumin cascading meant like in Win2000 when ya hit the start the way the column kinda smoothly cascade's like a softer scroll.....
Thanx

Restore cascading menus to the Windows 98 Start Menu

Our first tip is a neat Registry hack from Samuel Burrows, Internet, to restore cascading menus to the Windows 98 Start Menu.

"In Windows 98, when a menu is too tall to fit on your screen, you get a small scroll arrow at the bottom of the list. In contrast, in Windows 95, a second menu appears next to the first, allowing all the options to be seen. To set Windows 98 to behave like Windows 95, edit the registry by running regedit. Go to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\Advanced,right-click in the right pane and select New, String Value. Name it StartMenuScrollPrograms then double-click it and set its value to False. To restore the Windows 98 behaviour, set the value of StartMenuScrollPrograms to True."

BTW, Google turned up scores of results for this tweak...

Best regards,
Floyd

Resin he is refering to hit key local machine string. I just found the option to do this in the xsetup registry editer and it work like a charm. No need for winme at all now.
