Not a bad deal at all. I just picked up a Carbon (sort of the succesor to the nitrus), and it seems like a decent player so far. The UI isn't anywhere near iPod level, but it isn't bad. The 5 band customizable EQ is a nice addition.

Not a bad player, although kind of sketchy (they have strange problems) - still worth the cost

Is this really from IBM? I'm a little suspicious of the site. Has anyone ordered from here before?

That's the story of almost the entire Rio line. I've owned four different Rios over the years, and all had nagging problems, and three eventually died. Sonicblue had a pretty poor reputation, and it appears now that IBM has bought them?

I'm thinking about buying this, but there's a negative review over here:

http://www.andrewdavidson.com/articles/rio-nitrus-mp3-player-review/

"the Nitrus doesn't remember any of your folder hierarchy when transferring files. You must rely entirely on your MP3's tag information. This is the critical, major flaw that would prevent me from ever recommending the Nitrus. The flaw is shared by the PMP-300, but with the PMP-300's much smaller memory, the song organization is nowhere near as critical. The Rio Volts, thankfully, lacked the flaw by the simple fact that they used the folder organization already present on MP3 CDs."

My mp3 collection is pretty unorganized, so I guess I'll have to do something about that if I buy this thing ~_~

The single issue that's keeping me from buying it (besides the fact that I have no need for it - but that does not really matter :) ) is the reliability issues that people experience (based on Amazon and Cnet reviews). $50 is a great price but not if the thing dies in 3 months.

I ordered at 9:35AM EST and still received the notice. They must have only had a few of these.

all orders may have been canceled. i was one of the first to place an order and my order of 2 units was canceled.

might have been a price fu#%up and they are failing to honor it, because after all, IBM is broke, right?
