Refurbished mobos at Newegg.

Heres the thing. I got $75 to spend on a Nforce 2 board. I can get a 1.1 8RDA+ for $75 shipped off the forums that I am sure is guranteed to work. Or I can go on newegg and get a refurb MSI Delta-ILSR with more features for $69. Even the 8RDA+ at newegg right now is only $58 refurbed so thats less than buying on here.

Heres the thing what if I get a dead mobo from newegg? Will they replace it? Or should I just stay clear of refurbs? What would you all do

Anyone ever bought a dead mobo from them?

I wouldn't risk getting an MSI return speacial from Newegg.com. Are there any Asus, Abit, etc. They usually get a lot in every week from what I've seen.

From what I've seen, MSI tend to be flakey at times etc. But some people swear by them. I can't recommend them myself.

Naw no Asus's or Abit's. I looked there first. They have Epox 8RDA3+ but they are like $83 or something and I didnt want to go that high.

I guess its down to Epox 8RDA+(may get a higher rev) refurb $58 with nothing or 8RDA+(1.1) for $75 used with retail stuff(which I don't need).

Of course theres the possibility you'll get a dead one. I'm sure out of all the refurbs newegg sells, some of them are not going to work. Nobody here can say for sure whether you'll get one though

Just remember that the board will have a 15 day Newegg warranty. If you can get a new one for $20 more, its something to consider. Not like $20 is exactly breaking the bank.

Agreed.

Where can I get a new one for $20 more? No one I know sells them. I wouldnt want to order from any place other than newegg.

I've bought 6 mobo refurbs form newegg and they all worked superb. half of them had to have the cmos reset and the battery taken out, it was obvious the person who had it before was trying to OC and wasn't getting the results they wanted.

Was offered a refurb Asus Deluxe rev1.4 for $60 shipped off the forums. Says he got 2 and has never tested the other one(but can before he ships).

That sound like a good deal?

I have an MSI Delta mobo, but it is not a refurbished model. I also have an ASUS A7N8X Deluxe and they both perform equally. I don't think there is a problem with the MSI Delta design.

I buy my personal motherboards from the NewEgg Refurbished site and if you get a dead one, they will replace with another refurb or credit your account. I have only had one dead refurb and they replaced it without question, super fast as usual.

I like to buy these refurbs because I always wonder how certain boards perform without paying $200.00. So I can buy then cheap, play around with it, if I like it I use it in one of my personal boxes, and if I am not impressed, I sell it on Ebay.

I would not hesitate to buy from them.

Someone offered me a brand new Epox 8RDA+ for $75 shipped so I guess this is the best way to go. I don't need 2 onboard NIC's or SATA so no biggie. By the time I buy a SATA drive I will be ready for a new mobo anyway.

Thanks all.

I bought a msi kt400 refurb from newegg a while ago and it wouldn't post. It was packaged poorly also.

BTW why don't you get a brand new Shuttle AN35N-Ultra. It's an nforce 2 ultra 400. Newegg has it for $69 shipped. Mine is on it's way 🙂

Was wanting something with MCP-T. Buying a mobo with MCP-T saves me from buying a sound card and I need something good to run my Z560's.

I guess a brand new Epox 8RDA+ for $75 shipped wasnt bad considering I would be putting at least $35 in a Audigy if I had bought one of the other boards. So in all I would be out roughly $90-$100 with mobo and sound. Where I can spend $75 and kill 2 birds with one stone.

The MCP-T(Soundstorm) output is digital only. If you aren't using speakers with a SPDIF input(or a converter) you aren't getting any benifit from the MCP-T but are using the Realtek chip on the board.

I've bought 5 refurb mb's from Newegg without a problem yet.
4 Nforce2 mb's
2 MSI
1 Shuttle
1 Abit.
1 Intel board, Abit IC7
The cost of the Newegg refurb is about as much as buying a Geforce 4mx.
But you get a great motherboard with onbaord video, DD sound, and nic included in the price.
