Refurbished Mobo

From time to time I've seen refurbished mobos at newegg and other vendors. Many times these boards are significantly less expensive than the same version in a new retail board.

Has anyone had any experience with refurbished boards? Are they worth the price difference? Usually they are listed as OEM, but do they include driver/utility CD and I/O plate?

TIA,

Wayne

I bought several newegg refurbs, until the prices went up. Most don't come with accessories, but you might get lucky. For the backplate, contact the manufacturer and just tell them you didn't get one with your board. They may send you one free.

I purchased an MSI K7N2 Delta refurbished board last year from Newegg. It's still working flawlessly. Yes, they usually come OEM, but drivers and utilities can be downloaded online. I used the I/O plate from a previous board.

Thanx for the feedback o1die and cabroker.

It seems that if you see a refurbished mobo from Newegg that you like, you'd better jump on it immediately because it probably won't be there later.

At any rate, I don't think I'll bother with a refurbished mobo.
