Long, long time lurker. First time hot dealer.

While being disheartened by all the new Nvidia cards only supporting PCI Express I decided to poke around and see what I could replace my aging Geforce 4200TI with. I found this on ChiefValue. It's a refurb, but they offer a 15 day guarantee. And for $209.49 with free FedEx Savershipping?

Brand new 6800GTs are retailing at $299.99, and are normally about $280-285 from newegg and other stores.

So if you feel like taking a little risk you have the possiblity of saving $70 and getting a great card. And if we're extra lucky it will include everything that is in the retail package like pictured. This would include copies of Prince of Persia Sands of Time, and Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow thus adding some kindling to heat up the nice deal.

Last time I checked the 6800GTs were single slot design other than this one. Great price though but I cannot sacrifice a PCI slot in my 3 slot Compaq.

The two slot design isn't all that bad. These cards do generate a lot of heat, and my younger brother purchased one and later ended up spending more money on a 3rd party cooler that ended up taking an additional slot anyways.

Of course losing a slot isn't a big deal to me since the only other card I have in my system aside from the Graphics card is a USB 2.0 card that just gives me 4 extra ports on the back of my system.

Besides with a better cooler you might be able to get the clock higher. I wouldn't count on it with a Refurb, but it could be a nice bonus.

3 slot compaq? Shouldn't you have integrated everything just about to where you wouldn't need all 3?

That's a steal, I might bite, but I might have to order it later. I hope it's stock on Friday.

Keep in mind it's a refurb from Neweggs "sister" company so just like Newegg...you may have ~60-80% chance of receiving a defective/DOA card and might have to pay unrefundable shipping for the return.

Perhaps there's a lot of "buyers remorse" these days on 6800 GTs since the 7800 GT and GXF are available (i.e., peeps returned perfectly good 6800GTs and ordered 7800's for ~$50-$100 more as replacements...only ordering a refurb will tell:).

In any event it's YMMV for sure.

I had to go for it. This is the same deal that was at newegg.com a while ago, but they now have it for $220.

I called Leadtek USA and they said it has a 3 year warranty if you have your invoice (1 year otherwise)

If the 3 year warranty on this refurb is true then this deal is really starting to raise thermometer. I'll try to contact them myself later today and see what they say. I'll update the OP when I hear back from them.

3 PCI slot. I'm just saying that's all. I like to have all avaiable resources. $210 for a 6800GT is real nice.

CompUSA's midnight madness sale that happened on July 1st. I custom built my computer and it came out to $541 after tax. There were $300 in rebates. My rebates have been approved and coming home.

Funny thing was I found out about the deal on FW the minute I had just gotten home from the AMD tech tour in Sunnyvale. At this time, it was around 10:38pm. Let's just say I hightailed it to my friend's to pick him up and then proceeded to our nearest CompUSA to get in on the deal.
