refurbished lcds

Is it a good idea to get a refurbished lcd? I've seen a good deal on one but I'm worred it will have lots of dead pixels. Has anyone had any experience with refurbished lcds?

refurbished is fine. should not have any dead pixels.

But you don't know that for a fact...

Refurbished monitors are usually customer returns. There is some law stating that manufacturers cannot resell returned products as new, even if they were never opened. They have to be marked as "refurbished" and sold as such.

But then again, some LCDs truly have had parts replaced. Maybe some power thing blew and they just replaced that. It's very unlikely that they actually replaced the actual display electronics as that would be pretty costly; they might as well junk the defective panel and save the money.
