Refurbished laptop batteries? Is this shady or not?

I have an aging compaq presario laptop. The battery died a couple months ago. I didn't really care b/c I can usually plug it in. But now I may need the battery for a special occasion on which it may come in if power is lossed (a special event).

New batteries cost $150! I'm hesitant to spend that much on this computer given that it is falling apart in other departments (onboard NIC and modem are dead). But if I can get a battery for half the price I would do it. But are they trustworthy?

Anyone have any personal experience with this?
