E2200, 2GB. 80 HDD, Windows 7 32 bit for $69.99 AR, free shipping.

($30 rebate expires 12/31/2014)

Plus, it has been confirmed to work with 5xxxx Xeon ----> http://www.delidded.com/lga-771-to-775-adapter/3/#hp

With a $22 E5440 or $28 X5450 Xeon and a $2 adapter sticker a person would end up with a 2.83 GHz or 3.0 GHz 12MB cache quad core Windows 7 desktop for around $100 AR or less.

More info about converting LGA 775 desktops to LGA 771 Xeon: http://www.delidded.com/lga-771-to-775-adapter/ , http://www.overclock.net/t/1431723/mod-lga775-support-for-lga771-xeon-cpus

My experience converting a LGA 775 Dell Optiplex to LGA 771 Xeon: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2408974&highlight=

P.S. The PSU is rated 19 amps on the 12v rail, so there is some room to add a modest video card (However, if going this route a person might want to stick with E5xxx Xeons rather than X5xxx Xeons as they have much lower TDP: 80 watts vs. 120 watts)

Nice, thanks. Wasn't sure if the bios or vrm's could take a Xeon mod. Was talking this up to a friend as a cheap way to upgrade ram and OS from a Vista Basic 2G E2140 Dell Vostro.

Some buyers have had to do their own OS install, but the Windows key should be good.

They can take the mod, because they're designed to handle the identical Core 2-version of that Xeon, the Core 2 9000's.

Just don't get the X-series Xeon's. They're a higher TDP and will most likely not POST.

$59.99 AR in today's Newegg email ad.
I entirely do not need this, but do have a loose E5440 C0 Xeon quad and some ram that would fit.

I went ahead and bought one. Will all s775 quads and duals work in it?
