for you people who work in IT, do you or your boss buy refurbished equipment?
if you have a printer that needs repair, do you get it repaired or buy new/refurbished?
If you do get it repaired, how many times do you get it repaired before you buy another one?

my boss seems to only buy refurbished laser printers and dot matrix printers (yes we still use several dot matrix printers). they almost always cause problems and he always buys another refurbished one or sends them out for repair.

he's saving money initially, but with all the repairs and stuff, i doubt he's saving in the long run. and then i have to deal with them and the angry users when they go bad.

this place is run so @ss backwards its not funny.
 
My copmpany has bought refurbished stuff.....nothing has every gone wrong with it. i do not work in IT though. As for reparing, it depends. if it is one of those huge office lasers, yes, it will be repaired. They must have repaired the one in my office about 20 times already.
 
some things we have here are so old all we can get is refrbished, and they dont last long . like out dlt tape drives we go through about 6-10 a yr
