Refurbished 22" NEC CRT

I would never buy a "refurbished" CRT monitor that cost more than $25.00
unless I could see it in action. It may have been on 24/7 for the past three years..

Thats my opinion.

If you google Azatek you can read "epinions"

Which 19" Mitsu did you buy?

I am trying to figure out if I want a 22" or a 19"

Do you game with your 22"?

What would you recommend? Is the extra screen real estate of the 22" worth the hassle of the big footprint and big weight?

Don't buy refurb units, they don't last very long. I went through a 17" Sony Trinitron in less than 2 years - light usage and it just died on me while it was on - the screen disappeared and would not power back up.

That's not necessarily true as some refurbs have a complete tube replacement...

Tough call. Looking at that link you provided, however, I don't see where it says that particular monitor is refurbished. It says " Special Notes: Pulls from working environment. Not new Inventory." It also says it comes with a six-month free exchange warranty.

Chances are it's simply a used monitor, not refurb'd at all, and you have no way of knowing how many hours it has been on. Again, tough call. If was just used 8 hours a day in some office or something, and only for a year or two, that might be a good deal. If it was on 24/7 or something though, and it's 3 or 4 years old, I'd shy away. But, of course, how can you know?

If you really wanna delve deep, maybe call Azatek and ask them to read you the "manufactured date" off the back of the monitor (if there is one, and if they'd be willing to do it). If not, ask them for the serial number. Then call NEC and see if you can get them to tell you the date the monitor was manufactured (they can do that with the serial number). Might give you at least some idea how long the monitor is likely to have been used so far.

I thought about buying a monitor from Azatek a couple years ago, so I know they've been around a little while. I don't know much else about 'em, however. Good luck. 🙂

The 22" Mitsubishi is a moose. Heavy & takes up lots of real estate. It's nice, but you will not be sorry getting a 19".

19" Mitsubishi 900U. $89 each. Buy 3 for the price of one 22".

If I didn't have any bad luck, I would'nt get any luck at all. However, I've purchased a number of refurbished Mitsubishi monitors and the ones from Azatek were by far the best. Actually like new. Azatek has a 6 month Free exchange on these. I believe the freight is only $25. So, $114 for the best 19" CRT in the universe delivered to your door... easy decision for me.
