Refurbed Sapphire 9800Pro

I figured 3dmark woud be a good place to start the testing and it turns out I was right. I jsut re-formatted and am runnign 2k with nothing extra installed. I have all the nForce drivers installed and am using the ATI drivers v4.5 i believe. I re-downloaded the drivers directly from ati's site to make sure that was not the problem. I am about to try installing the omega drivers in some vain prayer this might help. Any suggestions? If no then I will have to RMA it to newegg.

I had tried X2, UT2k4, freelancer and counterstrike. to no avail. just finished with the omega driver intall and it did no good either.
my probe read out at 110F gpu, 116F on the ram, and the extra plate on teh backside near the vga coneector read 127F those don't seem to bad to me. room temp 75F and case ambient 87F

I have a vga silencer I could put on but no ramsinks, yet.

1x36gb raptor
2x wd 80gb in raid 0
1x nu tech dvd burner
2x80mm fans
1x92mm fan
1x120mm fan
sapphire 9800pro
3x ccfl that have remained off so far

that psu shoud more than be able to handle it, shoulnd't it?

nobody else has any ideas? I am really kind of desparate. I am beggining to think it is not the video card. Does anyone know of any driver conflicts between the newest drivers and the 9800's based on teh 9700 pcb?

Between my friends and I, we've purchased three "Refurbished" items from Newegg... Each of them were bad parts.

All indications are that you aren't having any better luck.

I hope the refurb I ordered has better luck than yours...

anyway, a little more info might help.....does it freeze in the middle of running the test or right at the beginning?
can you play games without it freezing up?
is the molex plug you are using on the 9800 a shared line or dedicated?
