I got a refurb hard drive... a Raptor in particular... and newegg said it didn't have a warranty, but when I got it and checked the S/N, WD's site said it has the full 5 year warranty.

Indeed. This happens quite often when it comes to newegg refurb stuff. I can attest to that, since my 9700pro from them turned out to have a 3 yr warranty with ATI.
