Hey, Is Kingston the only SSD company that sends new drives, instead of refurbished drives for RMA, like the other company's? I wonder if Sandisk mails out Refurbs?

Thanks :D

I wonder, how do you refurb an SSD?

ssd's mostly die from controller firmware problems.

2 of my mushkin ones did.

they just sent me a firmware updater and newer firmware and it brought it all back.

on the topic of refurb drives, i have 7 corsair force gt refurbs i bought ~3-4 years ago and all of them are still alive today.

well the one i ripped the sata interface off of but i soldered it back on and it still works.

OCZ & Toshiba send out new units.
Sammy sends out "refurbs".

I really doubt that they can refurb a SSD in any meaningful way, besides maybe recycling the case and or PCB.
There is no way that they can affordably test the NAND to see how much life is left for each return, so, it is my understanding that the units they get back, they take out the NAND, and sell it to the USB pen drive makers.

I got a SanDisk RMA and it was a sealed brand new package.
