Refurb sony 200w CD for car with remote 99

I would think this is a great steal for a deck with stats like those, but I have heard such bad things about sony's quality in their car audio products that I know I would never pay even $100 for this.

maybe if I got a $100.
But im not trying to bring you down joker I just wanted everyone to know my opions(like they're so important)

Sony decks are just fine, especially for low to mid end users. They have a lot of bang for your buck, plenty of nice features and such. I wouldn't use one without an external amp, but then again I wouldn't use any deck without an external amp. When I was big into car audio I used a sony deck and couldn't have been happier with it. Other Sony car audio products I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole, but their head units really aren't too bad.

edited a spelling mistake, I'm sure there are others.

I've heard they can be pretty unreliable.
Also referred to as all show(meaning good looks) but nothing to back it up
I got this from car toys and all other car audio guys ive talked to.
But i can always learn...Tell me more about their goodness

The thing about a lot of car audio guys is that they see themselves as "Audiophiles". So whenever they give their opinions about the products out there they always recomend the biggest and best, regardless of the level of performance needed by the user asking for advice. I agree that alpine/clarion/eclipse make the nicest decks out there, but not everyone needs that level of performance. If I can get a decent deck that fits my needs for $200 why spend more? Anyway as far as reliability my sony lasted for about two years in my car, then it was moved to a jeep with no top before it finally died after a particularly rainy summer. I had more problems with my amps fouling up then I ever did with my deck. Besides anyone looking for a headunit in this price range certainly doesn't need the latest and greatest equipment.

Sony's headunits are just fine. It's their speakers that audiophiles tend to dislike.
I currently have, and have always had Sony decks in my cars. Right now I have the CDX-MP70 MP3 deck / CDX-757MX 10 disc MP3 changer combo in my car, both perform flawlessly and they are used often. I commute about 90 miles a day and listen to music the whole time. I have the changer about 18 inches away from my two 10 inch Alpine subs and I have no problems with skipping from either unit.
As with any mass produced item, you get your bad eggs but I have yet to encounter one.

In my Accord (gawd I miss that car) I had an older ES CD deck. It friggin rocked when I got it new about 4 years ago, and was rockin when I sold the car in march. Improvement over the factory Honda deck was 100x over.

Really said alot about the factory speakers in that '95 Accord as opposed to those in my current '94 GMC Jimmy. I put in a nice Xplod deck I got used from the boards. Works great, SWEET features, and good power (52x4). But the speakers in the Jimmy are absolute crap. Some day I'll put in something better.

Anyway, I've always had good experience with Sony decks. 🙂

sony decks have terrible quality, you can find a lot of better decks for the same price... check out blaupunkt, pioneer, jvc, kenwood etc...
