Refurb LCD monitors

Time to time I see well reviewed LCD monitors are being sold as refurbs. The concern is that their warranty is usually 3-6 months, so I'm wondering if their build quality differs from brand new.

What could be likely differences between a refurb and a brand new LCD? Any thoughts?
