refurb EPOX EP-8KHA+ $55 another 29 available

Bought one of these a month ago. Works great except for the northbridge fan. Sometmes it get out of whack and buzzes before it eventually stops spinning. I simply press it back onto the mobo and it works fine again.

Edit: 8kha+ thread

Follow the link to the AMDmb forum. The bios configs posted can boost your speeds by a noticable amount

I always replace that little northbridge fan with a small socket A/370 cooler anyway.

Don't you have a battery to wash numb? 🙂

I bought these brand new mboards from newegg before, and I had problems getting SCSI cards to boot in this board... Tried Adaptec 2940 (classic), Diamond Fireport (old), Advansys 940 (standard OEM), no luck. Got newegg to replace it with identical brand new model, got the same problem... SCSI devices wouldn't boot.

Your mileage may vary...SCSI is a dying breed anyway.

I bought one of these babies... I have the 8k7a+ and I can run my board bus at 160. I am buying this one for my friend for a DV editing machine. He has a 1200$ limit and I don't want rebates/ MIR if I can avoid it so here's my start.

1 Epox 8kha+
2 IBM 80GB 7200RPM 120GXP ATA/100's
1 AMD Athlon XP 1800 OEM

420$ shipped. What a sweet little Raid set he will have.

I'm new at building systems. What would be a good case and PS, fan for this mobo and the AMD 1800+ ? Would really appreacitate some direction as I am new to this,

Depends on your budget, Antec cases and PS should be a good choice.

Great motherboard, I have ordered one to replace my old A7V which can never work beyond 100MHZ.
Thanks for the information.

Sorry, but that board does not have Raid.

I bought one the last time around, (about 7 weeks ago).
It died after 28 days of the 30 day warranty.
Had to next day air it back to get refund, since they were OOS.
Warranty starts the day you order it, not the day you receive it.

I debated on getting another 8kha+ or the newer 8k3a+ with KT333 and Raid.
After seeing all the bad stories about 8k3a+, and with Epox jerking people around on
revisions, (review sites have v1.1, but actual retail at 99.99% of stores is only 1.0), along with
the poor performance, (not much better than KT266A, no active cooling), only 4 USB ports
possible, and none at 2.0, and with Epox planning on replacing the board with the one they
should have shipped in the first place, 8k3a2+, which adds active cooling, 4 USB 1.1 + 4 USB
2.0 port, and 6 channel sound. Looks like the 8k3a+ is the board to skip, and will be very short
lived. Even after they come out with the "correct" KT333 board (8k3a2+), it too will be replaced
by the KT400 chipset within a couple months.

Even though it cost $100 still, I skipped the smoke and mirror show in the 8k3a+, and went with
the #1 board most review sites use as there testbed. 8kha+. Even it has 6 USB ports.
Running great again with XP1700 at 166x9.5. Sandra scores are 2501/2306 in this KT266a board!

rather have the a7m266. tons more stable. each to his own though, I'm sure. (reeling on a wennnnnnnnnssday night)

This board has a reputation for being stable. Read some of the review out there. Mine has been flawless and it is also one of the Newegg refurbs.

Excellent! I was able to get my order in tonight. Can someone who has gotten a refurb before tell me; do they really come without the manual and driver CD? I've heard it both ways... Assuming that there is no manual, is there an electronic version or a simple diagram of this board somewhere online? I will need to know which jumper is which.

Yes, the refurb includes driver CD and manual.

This is what Newegg sent me for RMA:

<< Please always print out this email and enclose it with your return RMA!
Thank you for requesting RMA. Your RMA number is xxxxxx
This RMA number is only good for 14 days from today. It will expire on 4/10/2002.
However, RMA number do not extend any warranty or refund period. For example,
your 30 day refund period will end on the 30th day from original invoice day,
regardless of RMA issue / expiration day.
