Just saw this again. Looks like a good deal. Anyone gotten Denon refurbs or ordered from ecost before? Pretty safe?
thats a sweet receiver.
Supposedly you are on your own if you have a problem with one of their refurbs. You must deal with the manufacturer. At least this is the case with their onkyo refurbs. might want to email them and ask before buying. Also, for SOH it says "please call"

I emailed Ecost a couple weeks ago about this and they never emailed me back. I haven't called them.

They have these refurb Denon receivers:
3803 $529
2805 $530
3805S $650 (not sure I like silver, they dont have the black)
5803 $2025

I can't quite fiture out all the differences, besides wattage, and that the newer xx05 models have more x-over freqs than the xx03. The 3805 and 5803 have "Denon Link 3rd edition". What is this? Is the 100Mhz bandwidth of the 28xx and 38xx models high enough?

Also which DVD player should I get? I do want DVD-A. I will have a 2nd (probably Philips) player for PAl, R1 discs since I assume the Denon's can't be hacked.
Ecost has the Denon DVD-900, 1600, 2800, 2800MK2, 2900(&S) and DVM-1805, 1815, and 4800.

Slick,

The new AVR-2805 and 3805 models have a feature to automatically adjust your speaker levels and also to set the EQ, if you desire. The 2805 includes the microphone for this process, while the 3805 does not - and you have to buy it separately for $65.

[Edit]: I should also point out that the 2805 would be shipped free via ground shipping when I checked and the 3805 would be shipped to me for $52.##, so don't forget to check the shipping rates before making the order.

Thanks JS!

My original Denon DRA-75VR is the best amp I've ever owned.

Guess I need to upgrade...:D

I picked up a refurb Denon DCM-380 HDCD Player for $100 @ eCost last year, and it only had a small area that was slightly damaged on the top.I was going to buy the same CD player from Crutchfield for $300. My Denon DVD 2200 sits on top of it anyhow. :)

I also picked up a brand new 3803 from an authorized Denon e-tailer a while back for $650 shipped.

I bought a refurb DCM-370 CD Changer from them and I had no problems. I've had it for about a year now.

Why would only the lower model have the microphone?
Why would they only offer free shipping on the cheaper model?
Strange.

Anyone know more about the DVD players?

Also forgot to mention I guess I'll need a CD player too. Or do most people now use the DVD player to play CDs? Ecost has the DCM-380, which has HDCD.

They're gone. I missed it. Sh1t. Anyone know if they get these in often? The guy on the phone said they're 'cancelled', 'Gone for good' but he didn't sound like he really knew or cared.

Where else can you buy refurbs?

I really wanted the 3805, which they did have, since everyone says the remote on the 3803 sucks. And for the auto volume thing.

If it's out of stock at Ecost, they pull the item from the listing. However, there's a good chance of them getting more in (based on previous products that they've stocked) so check their site every few days. Also, you could call one of their CSRs to see if/when more will be in stock.
