They actually start at $6.50 shipped now (I have seen E8400 for as low as $5.68 shipped in the past). Yeah, seriously..... almost close to being a free upgrade these days.

The BIOS on this HP DC5800 will probably have to be updated though. However, a $7 E6850 would be a straight drop in for any machine with E2180.

Also might want to update the RAM as it has 4x512mb DDR2 RAM sticks, It will run DDR2 PC2 6400 (800mhz) RAM. Looking at the spec sheets on HP site it says the max processor it will run is a Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650

The PSU is also only "240" watts so might need to see about an upgrade to that.

From my experience with these refurbs, the memory configuration is not always what they say. The last one I got said 2GB, 4X512. It was actually one 2GB with the other slots empty.
