FWIW I have 2 of these I got new off ebay a cpl year ago when the catleap stuff was going on, they have been flawless since I got them

the stand is crap/ however it can be replaced by the cheap monoprice one. and with most of the cheap monitors from SK there is no OSD and there are not controls besides brightness. also needs a Dual Link DVI connector

I'll agree with what Anubis said. Got one about two years ago and it's been flawless and I'm using it now to type this. Great colors, great clarity, very nice. But there's no scaling, no OSD at all, and will only take a dual-link DVI. And the stand is junk - I wall mounted mine. Pretty much exactly what Anubis said.

If you guys do not know what achieva shimian is then you need to google "korean monitors."

Pretty much the korean companies such as LG and Samsung have a binning process for monitors C, B, A-, A+ etc with color accuracy, dead pixels, etc. Achieva schimian buys the reject panels that were not good enough for Apple's Imac, Cinema Display, etc (this is the same panel) and put them in their monitors. These panels may have 5 dead pixels, or there color accuracy may not be as accurate as the best. That said they are usually great/awesome monitors and things normal human beings can't notice.

Now the circuit board in these Acheiva Schimian is a piece of junk with no scalar and such. It only supports dual link dvi. This is also a great thing for besides the reduce cost there is a far faster input signal with less input lag. I do not care about the no scalar for that is why I have a geforce video card and radeons and intel have similar options but things like dvd players / bluray players won't.

These monitors are not for everyone, but if you can live with the trade offs they are awesome monitors. I am currently looking at the exact said monitor while I type this. I got it 18 months ago for $330 and it has been wonderful.

A little more info from Anand and Brian with monitor measurements. They said in one of their podcasts that this was the best new technology of 2012.

If I were in the market for one of these, I would get the Auria at Microcenter instead. New, warranty, scaler, HDMI, etc.

OOS and last at $299, worth taking some risk to save $100.

Depends on end use, this one will never be used other than connected to a PC of some kind, other than shipping damage no DOA issues if a used monitor is really checked, and no need for scaler or HDMI. We have other monitors for the other stuff.

I didn't think to check about HDCP via DVI, but I guess I will learn very soon.
