refresh rate up = flickering??

Does that mean there's something wrong with my video card or monitor??

Need more info like when the flickering occurs, all the time, just in games?
What rate are you set to?
Video card?
Processor?

the flickering occurs when i set the refresh rate more than 60... (75.... 80.... ) it's a voodoo3500.
and i have a 1.3 AMD

the reason why i am suspecting is that my monitor sometimes has this fading problem. it's as though that i'm chaning the brightness of the monitor but it just occurs by itself. I'm suspecting that it's either the video card or the monitor, buti don't know which one....

Umm, thats likely to happen if your monitor does not support the refresh rate being used, or there is interference from some other electronic device makes flickering more prominent at higher refresh rates i.e a closeby transformer blocks, a second monitor etc

i have a viewsonic e790.... and for some reason i don't think it's the monitor because i connected my gf's laptop and i don't really get the fading in and out problem.. But is it definitely video card or monitor??

i don't want to switch my video card yet because it's too expensive to do so and geforce4 is coming out soon..
