not sure why, but that game will not go over 60 fps, it is not you or the card, i think it has to do with the open gl they use, but i noticed the same thing. AFAIK, you just have to play it at 60 fps. i would play cs:source though with that card. source looks and plays great.

Even though you set it to 75Hz, it is actually only 60Hz.
With Vsync on, there is no doubt that why you are getting 60fps.

That's open for debate. Computer images are rendered scene by scene and so they do not use motion blur like movies do. Pause a frame in a movie and it will likely be blurry. Take a screenshot. Is it blurry? NFSU looked smooth on my POS desktop (Below) due to motion blur, but many other games look like crap.

Just set it at 60hz. You don't mess with refresh rates for LCDs. This is a CRT thing

Sorry for the highjack, but my LCD's max refresh rate is 75 Hz: Why should I keep it at 60? Thanks.

Because LCDs dont flicker at all and you will burn your monitor out running at high refresh rates.

I've been running it since I got it at 75 Hz. If it would burn it out, then why would the box say max refresh rate 75 Hz? Please explain.

I'm sorry that I do not have an answer to your question, but:

I run the game on my Mitsu 19" at 1024x768:32@120hz, vsync on, fps_max 120, and I get 120 constant fps in CS1.6. So it IS possible. OpenGL, too.

I think most people's problem is they don't run a prog like RefreshLock, so they're limited to 60hz.

Secondly, when I don't use refreshlock, I can instantly tell it's at 60hz. I can see the flicker of the screen, ffs. Not only that, my Diamondback on 1600DPI@250hz reacts MUCH slower.

SuperTyphoon, Thats total trash, on the CRT he will end up ill with sore head and eyes, the medical body say 75hz is min and 85hz is min recommended.

Goto > www.guru3d.com and grab rivatuner and turn of vsync for opengl and direct3d (you can only do opengl in nvidia drivers nowday even after coolbits)

You do have refesh rates overrides tab avail in most nvidia drivers if not grab the nvtweak from same site and apply all settings then exit it.

Look in your adapters settings and see the max hz you can use for each res, then set it same as that from 800x600 all the way to 1600x1200, skip any you never use.

I agree though right now you should be locked to 75hz not 60hz lol.

Well, that actually depends on the person. The majority of the population would not detect a significant difference beyond the refresh rate of 60. But there is a significant part of the population (myself included) that can detect difference in our peripheral vision or upto 75 Hz; there is a very small fraction that can even do so upto 85 Hz. So count yourself fortunate to be among the majority, who don't have temporally over-sensitive vision.

60hz is unusable as far as I am concerned. 85hz is comfortable for normal viewing and 120hz completely eliminates the peripheral vision flickering for me. I can tell a difference up to 110 or so as far as game fps go. It's all different for every person.

I really like Refreshlock but the problemwith it is that it doesn't allow you to have more than one refresh rate setting for any given resolution. I use 1280x960 at 85hz in windows since text looks very slightly sharper than at higher settings (I can't notice flicker at that setting as long as I look directly at the monitor), but want to use 120hz for that resolution in games. I am just using the DirectX refresh override at the moment, with everything at 100hz except for a handful of old games that run well at 2048x1536, for which I use 85hz. I made a couple of reg files that change the DX override number in the registry to quickly switch between the settings and have just gotten used to loading up the 85 file and switching back to 100 later if I want to play those older games.

The nvidia control panel refresh override has the same problem as Refreshlock, but it's unreliable and does not always work for me.

Hard Ball, thats just as much trash as above, "depends on the person", are some superhuman ?.

Fact is your eyes may not see 60HZ flickering but your brain does, and soon you wonder WTF do i have a sore head for, this has been proven medically, anyone gaming at 60HZ on a CRT is a fool and will get a sore head end of story, some constructive input like i gave is better than this sh1t im reading.

CRT > esp sitting close to game 75HZ min
85HZ ideally rec

If i go from using 160HZ for a persiod of time to 85HZ i notice the change in my screen, but since i cant game at high res with 160HZ im ok on 85HZ.
