Refresh rate fixing on 8500LE

Try turning off "use DDC" option under your advanced display properties, and make sure refresh rate is set to optimal, and reboot. If that doesn't solve your problem, try to download un updated .INF file for your monitor. It sounds like XP is not recognizing it properly.
 
I've tried all that and Belinea havn't updated drivers for my monitor for 2 or 3 years. I know I'm not the only person who gets this problem but what I don't understand is why all the apps that worked with my G400 and GeForce 2 wont work with this 8500LE.

EDIT: It seems to be working fine with powerstrip. Now how do I enable 1280x960? This resolution was available on both the G400 and GF2 but not with the 8500LE.
 
Use Refresh Force (ReForce) as it'll work on any video card out there with any drivers.

You'll need to add a custom resolution in PowerStrip. Either that or modify ATI's driver INF to include that resolution against R200 boards.
 
ReForce worked fine on my GF2 but only the desktop with the 8500LE but Rage Tweak fixed it all.

I enabled 1280x960 in Powerstrip but my monitor wouldn't do it. My monitor is really fussy with 1280x960. On my G400 I had to turn down to 800x600 before going up to 1280x960, on my GF2 it worked fine, but on the 8500LE it wont work at all. Where's the ATI inf I can try editing?
