Refresh locked at 60hz

Fabio

Senior member
I have a 21 inch Sony 500PS crt monitor. All of a sudden it is locked at 60hz. Even if I go to the monitor tab under the advanced display properties and change it to 75 or 85 it still says 60hz on the HUD for the monitor settings. I used to be able to change it...I have a Radeon 9600 and recently updated the drivers so I rolled back to the previous drivers but it is still 60hz. Any ideas or software I can use to get it up to at least 75hz?

Thanks,

Fabio

Maybe it doesn't support DDC (BNC?) go to the advanced display properties>on the "displays" tab, click above the CRT icon on the "Monitor" label. Uncheck "Use DDC information" (if its checked) and in the drop down boxes below, set each to the maximum value your monitor supports (refresh/resolution) OK your way out and you should now refresh rate support.

Are the monitor drivers installed or is it listed as "default monitor"? What OS are you using? Windows XP has problems with refresh rates sticking to 60hz. Great program to fix this is here. This program only works for 2000/xp though. If you still have problems try uninstalling the drivers and then run driver cleaner.

I uninstalled everything and then reinstalled the comlpete catalyst driver instead of just the display driver and I was able to get it to work. I am going to use that driver cleaner from now on though...thanks!
