My wife and I bought 2 of the Refresh Air Freshener dual vial products at Wally World a couple weeks ago. These are the liquid vials that you hook up to your air vents. They smelled great, so we were happy at first. Within 4 days however these vials started to leak so I would just wipe it off thinking no big deal. Well after about a week the liquid started to penetrate through my dash and air vent, while bonding to the plastic and melting it down. Apparently there are some chemicals in this product that can cause major damage.

I went to the refreshyourday.com website and contacted them to express my disatisfaction with their product to get it off my chest. I wasn't really expecting anything but an "I'm sorry, here's a 10% off coupon for your next purchase" email reply. The woman told me that there have been a few complaints with the product so this was a known issue. She advised me to get estimates from the dealership and a local repair shop on our vehicles (my wifes CD player and dash area was damaged) and told me to file a claim through them.

Here I am thinking it's going to be about $300 in damage and labor, but it came out to be around $1400. I had the forms faxed back to her from the body shop and she immediately called and said would you consider settling for the quotes from the local repair shop, we'll mail you a check. I was fine with that, considering that we're lucky they went through this level of customer service to begin with. Anyway, I just wanted to give everyone a fair warning who uses these air fresheners or is thinking of it.

There's my post for the week.

CLIFFS FOR TEH LZY. Don't buy Refresh Air Products

Whoa, thanks for the heads up. I was about to buy something like that for my teenager's car - I drove it yesterday and couldn't believe how bad it was.

Any idea what I should do instead? I know, stop driving my kid's car . . .
