Reformatting--Setup Hangs @ 34 minutes.

Decided to reformat (see previous thread for why)

Setup hangs at 34 minutes.... yes, I've seen the KB page (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=828267)

So far, I have:
1) Removed ALL USB periphreals, including the mouse and keyboard. (Also tried removing the keyboard. Didn't work.)
2) Removed ALL internal devices except for CPU, GPU and HDD (Yes, I even removed the CD drive)

Checked setuperr.log--It's telling me that there is a security issue on installation.

Any ideas?

(Also removed some RAM, only have one stick left. )

Edit: Also tried an alternate video card (PCI card; normally use PCI-E)
No luck.

Going to switch RAM ports.

Ugh.

Restarted ~4-5 times.
Letting it go, sit for an hour or so.
Watched it for a while, and the monitor pulled a really weird flicker-deal.

Not sure what's going to happen.
If I wake up and it's still there... restart again.

Not sure what more I can do, as I've removed every component possible.

Update.. It's now hanging at 33 minutes.

Hooboy.
Apparently it might be the SATA drive not being recognized.
Hm..
I'll have to go back and repair the install+press F6.
*sigh*

Looks like I'll be busy tonight.

Another update.

Found out how to get into the device manager--got all of the devices installed, then tried to let setup proceed.
No luck.

Tried to install them all, then restart--no luck, they appear uninstalled.

Not sure what else I can do at this point.
Ideas?

try a different cable to the hard drive and to the cdrom, also try a different power supply/check the voltages on it to see if they are correct.

i always blame the motherboard after this, but i first install other operating systems such as 2000 or 98 to prove it is, if all experience similar problems i say its the motherboard.

Can you post the last dozen or so lines from your setup*.* logfiles?

I'm so grateful for a response I'll give you 2 dozen.

Also--can anyone explain to me why it's still being hung up on the drivers when I manually installed them?
