Reformatting help edit: is this reliable?

i got my computer without the installation disk to windows xp, as far as i know.
I have only 1 hardrive, thus how do I reformat my computer? isn't there some kind of way to do it?

Find out who makes the drive. Go to that manufacture's site and there will be a utility for formatting the drive. I hope you have a floppy drive or a CD burner, because you'll be making a boot diskette.

make a boot disk. Im not sure if windows xp can make one but if not, just google it.

Can you boot into windows xp? If so right click the drive icon and select 'format'
