reformatting hard drive

i want to reformat my hard drive. the computer i want to reformat alredady had a OS (win98) preloaded on it. Later on i installed win 98se upgrade on the sam computer. i want to install win 98se again but i think i need to have the orginal win98 disk which i dont. can i still install win98 se upgrade part on the hardrive.

I haven't seen a PC yet with pre-loaded OS that didn't come with the OS disk. Even if they did, why in God's name didn't you get it!?

buy a copy of win98 first edition or SE full.

All you need is a qualifying product to upgrade from, dig up your old win3.1 floppies, or borrow them from someone. The setup will ask you to place 1 or more of those discs during setup to verify that you have the product, otherwise its exactly the same as the win98se full. A win95 CD will also work(or floppy's).

WhoDeeny, lots of rigs sell without an OS disk, generally they will contain the install files in a protected partition on the hardrive. Not the best, but it keeps the cost of bargain rigs down considerably.
