I reformatted, reinstalled Windows 98. Everything seems ok, but i get a problem in the "Device Manager" section "PCI Mass Storage Controller" with the yellow Question mark next to it.

My computer seems to be running ok, but don't like to see that message there.

Here is what i have done so far.

1) Installed Via 4.36 drivers
2) My Radeon 8500 drivers
3) Santa Cruz drivers
4) Directx 8.0
5) Modem drivers

What am I missing? I have an ABIT KT7A-Raid motherboard, running 1.4 T-Bird.

Anyone know what I didn't install that i need to? I figured the Via drivers would cover the rest of what I needed. I didn't bother with my motherboard CD. I don't think I used it last time either, and didn't have that question mark there.

So, if someone can tell me what it is, i'd appreciate it.

This might sound stupid but have you restarted your computer?
Try removing the device and installing VIA 4-in1 patch all over again.

"PCI Mass Storage Controller

You must have your Hard drive on the Ultra DMA/100/66 IDE Connector

You'll need to install the drivers for your Promise/High Point Controller.

Toro🙂

Well , that was quick service. I'd say 10 minutes , give or take a minute or 2. Not too bad🙂

That did fix the problem.

This is the first motherboard I've had with a "raid" controller. Figured I had done all i needed to. Guess not.

At least I'll know what it is for next time.

Thanks again🙂
