Reformating problem

Right now i just put in my IDE HDD from my old computer. My new computer read it just fine and i could go through it and what not.

I put my windows cd in, restarted my computer and booted from the cd drive. Then the blue windows screen came up reading stuff but i get an error before it brings me to the "Repair Windows" screen.

EDIT: I think i figured out the problem while writing this. My IDE HDD has a different windows on it and i believe that is the problem? Will reformatting that drive first and clearing windows off of it allow me to reformat my primary HDD?
 
Try completely wiping the old hdd. I believe your problem will persist if there remain any files of old windows. What windows was it?
