hey guys long story short...I was donated a lenovo 7577 laptop, it's pretty old but it still works and my cousin who just turned 18 and is graduating high school soon only has a desktop, and a pretty old one at that.. So im planning on reformatting this lenovo's hdd with windows xp and giving him a clean malware/spyware/virus free laptop he can use for his online surfing...he has an xbox for games, so this is just light surfing at best. (it originally came with vista)I have an clean windows xp serial, I just cant happen to find the drivers for this laptop(for xp) online.... was hoping AAT community could help.. i just need the basic drivers for basic functionality for the laptop
(touch pad, networking, Bluetooth etc etc), if ATT could help, it really make a great gift, and something he could take to college next year for his classes and essays. unfortunitly his dad is a deadbeat and his mom has to work 2 jobs to support him and his older sister. (good thing they paid for college 20 years ago, when they were still married), and hes at least able to get a good education.. His mom my aunt is the most loving person to me and she was sorta my "nanny" as a child, she took care of me for my first 3 years on this earth after my mother went back to work, never charged my family a dime, and she just has hard times working 2 jobs with a disability and if i could get her son a working laptop it would save her a nice chunk of change, and i would feel great being able to help them both out.

so any kind soles out there willing so assist me in this hunt for the drivers?

is it the lenovo g470-7577? the g470 doesn't seem to come with windows vista though
as god mode stated, searching for lenovo 7577 turns up the m70z all in one desktop pc...

I'm guessing it's the lenovo y410?
Please include the full model name. The easier you make it to help you, the more likely someone will. The 7577 is probably only related to the options on the notebook, and isn't a full model number

Lenovo's website has windows xp drivers for the y410

It probably has the drivers for whatever model notebook you have too. Just find it's model number...

you can even just search its product number if it hasn't worn off...

ir says model 7577 but other then that every things pretty much smudged off except factory id which says LENOVO 3000 Y410 thats all thats there...

The most cool way and tech btw is look in devicemanager. Every unknown device has got a device id. That's how you do it mate. Pop that device id in google and there you go. There are some special sources for drivers, lets see if you get there man. 🙂

Yes, if you look in Device Manager, at the "unknown device"(s), and look at the properties, details, then at "Hardware IDs", you get a code string. For example, my Envision WebCam II, which doesn't currently have drivers loaded, reports "USB\VID_0C45&PID_6242&REV_0100". If you google that string, and then if that doesn't turn up anything, chop off the last bit, and maybe the "USB\" prefix, so maybe "VID_0C45&PID_6242", and then you should find some driver hits. At least, you should be able to find out who the mfg is, and then possibly go to their site for drivers.

i reazlize just resotring this laptop to factory defaults would save me alot of time and make it easier on me it would keep vista on the laptop but that's no big deal, could any of you tell me which keys to press when booting up to get into recovery mode?

i've decided to install xp, as i am installing the drivers i noticed i screwed up a bit, there are 2 partitions (from when vista was on it, a recovery partition and a storage partition)as i go to install the drivers it tells me there's not enough space on drive c, but drive d is completely free, how can i install the remaining drivers on partition d?

"F8"

b4 u see that windows logo pop up.
If your talking about windows recovery.

Id say find a copy of windows 7.
I noticed it runs a lot better then vista on older machines even.
Sometimes manages to gets drivers which u cant even find even...

Hence my recommendation is try to load up windows 7 and see what drivers it cant find automatically.

If your talking about the OEM recovery... u would most likely require a CD or a DVD.
I dont think u can preload the partition without some form of recovery CD.

I give u a lot of respect helping out your cousin.
Ive had simular stories where i would pass down my review samples to my cousins if they needed it.
Im a firm believer of all good things get returned to you when you require it the most.

wait, if vista came on that machine originally, it will run win7 no problem. and likely, win7 will automatically find the drivers.

there are TONS of drivers in ms's update databse, many that arent even advertised. even if your laptop's manufacturer didnt put win7 drivers on their website, you will notice they published them to ms's database and simply installing win7 gets you all the latest stuff.
