Reformated WinXP, now can't setup wireless access

Can someone point me in the right direction. I don't know much about setting up wireless access and neither does my boss. I picked up a severe something from a web site which destroyed my bootup. Six different antivirus programs found nothing and recovery bootfix and bootmbr did not help so I had to reformat.

The problem is that I know nothing about connecting up to the office Linksys wireless system. Do I need to install a Linksys driver or do something special in the setup? When I type 192.168.1.1 in the IE address bar I get nothing. Somehow I feel like some driver or software is missing.

One problem I have is that the little antenna on the computer that is connected to the USB port is not being recognized. And it has a yellow question mark in the System - Other Devices - USB Devices. But the USB ports are working since I can use my flash drive. It just won't recognize the Linksys thing. I guess it might be a driver.
