So, had some issues with my new build. Everything is straightened out now, but one concern I have coming out of the ordeal...

I had to reformat and reinstall Windows 3 different times. This was on a Samsung 830 256gb. The first time I probably filled the drive to 60% with games and some VMs. The second time I only reinstalled Windows and a few apps.

The third I will be reinstalling all my games/apps/VMs again.

This was all in the span of the first week of my SSDs life. Sigh.

Anyway, just need some reassurance I haven't degraded my SSD too much haha.

So at worst you may have gone through 1-2 of your ~3000 program / erase cycles. Still loads left.

I hear on the grapevine theres a new Magician out soon which will display SSD life for the 830 as they've disabled regular programs from showing it.

I have an old sandforce drive that I abuse whenever I'm bored. I opened it up to examine the pcb + its banged up and no warranty so I use to to test instead of selling.

Those of us using an SSD for anything short of a heavily loaded 24/7 database have nothing to worry about. I can see why people might be antsy with regard to the price. I say use it freely and take advantage of the warranty if something goes wrong.
