Reformat and put on Vista or XP Pro?

I'm thinking about reformatting and putting Vista on. I have a legitimate copy of RC1 from Windows that I've never used. I use my computer for web design purposes, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Cinema 4d, etc and games (mostly counter strike source). Does anyone here use it and are there any known problems with running games (like cs source and the applications ive described aboved) and vista? Is it worth upgrading or should I just reformat with xp pro? Thanks guys...

First off, why are you reformatting in the first place? Unless your system has been compromised by a virus, you are making a major hardware change or you're recovering from a HD failure, there's no need to reinstall Windows.

Secondly, at this point I wouldn't recommend installing Vista RTM, let alone RC1. Vista has only been out for a few weeks, and its going to take several months for hardware manufacturers to release stable drivers and application developers to work out compatibility kinks.
