When I first joined AnandTech in December of 2001, I wasn't sure where I'd be in two-and-a-half years. I was a senior in high school trying to find things to do other than homework. I certainly never thought I'd end up with anything close to 10,000 posts. I poked around Hot Deals, ordered an $0.86 network card from Dell, and posted sparingly where I saw fit. I never thought I'd be coming back that often.
But something brought me back over and over again. There have been many who say AnandTech (especially Off Topic) have become acerbic and nasty, but I don't agree. Attitudes may have changed, but we're all here to have fun. The AnandTech forums are a place we come to waste time, get our questions answered, or have interesting (but polarizing) political discussions. Clearly, very few members come here with personal vendettas against other members, and that's what makes this place special. We're like a family. Dysfunctional, sure - but what family isn't?
So after two-and-a-half-years, I simply want to say 'thank you.' The AnandTech Forums are a special place. We've laughed, argued, cried, and rolled our eyes. But if there's any single definitive thing I can say about the AnandTech Forums, it's that I've enjoyed every minute of it. Hell, I wouldn't have 10,001 posts today if I didn't enjoy my time here.
I want to say thank you to everyone here. You all make this community special, and without each one of you, AnandTech would be that much less inviting.
Thank you, AT!
