Reflection

Here's one of my little furball taken a few months ago.

Tucker

Since then, he's gotten alot bigger and received a haircut.

Cute dog... But yah, it's a busy image... It's a good example of an image where less would be more...

The dynamic range is too much to handle in a single frame the way it is, untouched. The back ground trees in the sun are all blown out... Some camera's have some highlight recovery/dynamic range options that help this.. Sony has DRO, Canon and Nikon have their versions of it that help too...

I think a better approach would be to just crop out the background trees, focus a little closer on the dog, but still, the birch or what ever the white barked trees are just too bright at this time of day.

The best option might be to use a graduated ND filter, dropping the top half of the frame by at least 2 stops compared to the dog and reflection in the foreground. I think you'll still have a little trouble with the bright white reflections directly above the dog though...

Last option, different time of day. Sometimes the reality is that film or digital just can't handle a scene at the time of day your are there.

Anyway, it's a cool scene, with a very clear and colorful reflection.. It's just a little too much to try to capture all in one scene at this time of day...
