PMing a moderator usually gets this taken care of quicker. Of course, last time I PMed them 9 of these links they complained that I missed two. :p

He was talking about another thread posted by a 1-post spammer. It sucks that your thread was deleted...it was worthwhile except for all the trolling by Gurck.

my apologies then.

yeah, I just got contacted and sternly warned by the mods.... I was pretty sure i wasnt breaking any rules.

Too bad gurck got involved, it wouldn't have been blown so out of proportion, and become such a big thing. Oh well, guess Gurck got what he wanted

Know what's really bad? Wired is running an article about how the "fr33 1p0ds" thing is actually legit. :(

http://www.wired.com/news/mac/0,2125,64614,00.html?tw=wn_tophead_2

Whether it is or isn't, it's sure cluttering up a number of online forums with the spam. :(

At least I haven't seen any "Ju1c3B00st3d" referral ads here on AT yet, although now that I think of it there might have been one in HotDeals, swiftly delt with by a mod.

PS. "Bad words" escaped using leet-speak, to prevent any sort of auto-banning script from picking on me, my intent is to inform, not spam.

TaylorD, your thread was worthwhile and non-infringing. Looks like Gurck is a mod, or at least one of the mods is too stupid to read your thread. See the sticky in OT? Evidently good commentary is secondary to creating a generalized law of the land to stop spam. Seems like the too-easy way out to me.

I wonder how hard it would be to have the forum automatically filter any URLs that include the string, "refferal", "refID", "freeipods.com", etc. in them? I'm not sure how flexible fusetalk is, but that would certainly stop a lot of this stuff in its tracks.

There are a lot of threads on the forum, and the mods reading them all is difficult at best. Heh, I got warnings in FS because my email wasn't showing, even though I was only bumping interesting threads. :p
