yes, they are distributed to the benchmarking people and to the AIB manufacturers. but the consumer can not buy one. most 3rd party cards are clones of the refernce design, to save money. you can buy, however a built by nvidia geforcefx 5800 ultra. nvidia manufatured them thru there own private manufacturer and then resold them to the AIB manufactures to be branded. they did this becuase the design was so complecated.
 
I might be buying a 4600 from a person, and he says it's an nvidia reference model that he won at a lan party. Possible?

I just want to make sure there's no quirks here.
