Well I certainly notice the benefit of a reference design when having multiple cards in a system (also bigger cases). I decided to drop a couple older cards into a smaller case in which they barely fit. The case is only as big as the ATX motherboard with no extra room around it.
I put the reference card in the bottom as there's just an inch from the PSU and it would have been sucking in fresh air from the bottom.
The upper card was super hot as the bottom card was only 1 spare slot away.
Bottom Reference: 70s
Top custom 2 fan DCII: 90
So I tried the old switcheroo.
Top Reference: 84c
Bottom custom 2 fan: 83c
I guess the only way to go dual card would be reference or have a bigger case and put them at least a couple slots apart.
I've had some old generation cards in crossfire in a larger case but they were cool (and both custom) compared to these.
Having an open cooler on the bottom sucking in hot air from the PSU then sending it out to get into the Reference cooler above is a bad idea. 😉
